WITRON passes endurance test at the IFOY finale with its solution for Migros

Hannover. At this year’s “IFOY Test Days” from January 31 to February 7 in Hannover, the organization of the international intralogistics competition has for the first time awarded the “Best in Intralogistics” certificates. WITRON, the general contractor from Parkstein (Germany), accepted the certificate after passing the test on the occasion of a ceremony held at the Hermes Lounge of the “Deutsche Messe AG”. Thus, WITRON can justifiably hope to be among the official winners of the prestigious IFOY Award in April with an innovative overall solution for the Swiss food retailer Migros.

The “Test Days” started with the presentations in the category “Integrated Warehouse Solutions”, to which the IFOY partner, CeMAT had invited the guests to the Hermes Lounge Trade Fair Tower. WITRON CEO, Helmut Prieschenk, presented an innovative and cost-efficient solution for the Swiss retail group Migros to best-in-class jury of professors, specialized journalists, and industry experts. As the first system integrator in the world, the experts from Parkstein succeeded in developing a holistic Omni-Channel solution for the Migros distribution center in Suhr (MVS), which combines different distribution channels as well as various product groups in one integrated mechanized system. The integration into the existing building took place during ongoing operation and provides numerous synergies, creates flexibility in the process and resulted in a very cost-efficient overall solution. Today, the distribution center in Suhr supplies 600 Migros stores of different sizes and 300 Convenience stores of its subsidiary migrolino with maximum efficiency and the best possible service. The solution was implemented to optimize cost-efficiency along the entire supply chain, both within the warehouse and during transportation to the shops. WITRON has also achieved consistent ergonomics in the logistics center and the sales outlets with its solution. In the distribution center, physical efforts are almost completely eliminated - and through optimized loading of the pallets and roll containers, the storage in the Migros and migrolino stores can be carried out quickly and employee-friendly, which also gives the end customer an undisturbed and improved shopping experience.

The “Best in Intralogistics” certificate was developed to demonstrate more clearly the high level of innovation and technical quality of the finalists who have successfully completed the IFOY test procedure. Only those who have the “Best in Intralogistics” certificate have passed the IFOY audit and faced the toughest intralogistics test in the world. “It is the visible sign of innovation”, emphasizes Sascha Schmel, CEO of the “VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics” and holder of the IFOY Award. “Promises must be proven at the IFOY. The tests reveal the truth and make the jury aware of how innovative and practicable a candidate is compared to its direct competitors on the market”, says Anita Wuermser, President of the IFOY jury.

The IFOY audit serves as a vital criteria in the decision of the jury. More than 100 guests from 18 nations as well as 30+ jurors and accredited consultants from industry, logistics services, media, and science travelled to Hannover to see the finalists before casting their vote. Who comes in first will remain a secret until the end. Even the manufacturers won’t know the result prior to the award ceremony on the opening day of the CeMAT and the Hannover Trade Fair Industry.
